Effective assessment and clear reporting
At King Edward VI High School, we believe that effective assessment and clear reporting are crucial for supporting student progress and fostering a strong partnership between school and home. Our aim is to provide timely, comprehensive, and actionable information about your child's learning journey, enabling them to understand their strengths and areas for development, and allowing you to celebrate their achievements and support them effectively.
Our Approach to Assessment
Throughout the academic year, your child will experience a variety of assessment methods designed to measure their understanding, knowledge, and skills across all subjects. These include:
Formative Assessments
Ongoing assessments within lessons, such as questioning, quizzes, and short tasks, which help teachers identify learning gaps and adapt their teaching.
Summative Assessments
More formal assessments at key points, such as end-of-unit tests, projects, and examinations, to evaluate overall learning.
Feedback
Regular and constructive feedback is provided to students to help them understand what they have done well and how they can improve. We encourage students to act on this feedback to accelerate their learning.
Go4Schools: Your Gateway to Your Child's Progress

To ensure you have immediate and convenient access to information about your child's progress, we utilise Go4Schools, our comprehensive online reporting and parent information system.

By logging into your Go4Schools account via the website, or by using the Go4Schools app, you can view a wealth of real-time information about your child. Your child's page is automatically updated, providing you with the latest information. When a new grade or report is available, we will contact you to let you know.
You will also have access to this information via a mobile parent app, which can be downloaded for free from your App Store (for Apple devices) or Play Store (for Android devices).
We encourage all parents and carers to regularly access Go4Schools to stay informed and engaged with their child's education. If you require assistance with accessing your Go4Schools account, please contact the school office.
