Extra-curricular Activities/Clubs

Beyond the classroom

At King Edward VI High School, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. Our vibrant programme of school clubs and extra-curricular activities is designed to enrich and extend your child's learning, spark new interests, develop essential life skills, and foster a strong sense of community. These opportunities are vital in helping every student "Be the best YOU can be" – not just academically, but as well-rounded, confident, and engaged individuals.

Extra-curricular activities

We are incredibly proud of the diverse range of activities on offer, providing something for every interest and passion. Participation in these clubs allows students to:

  • Develop New Skills: From teamwork and leadership to creativity and problem-solving.

  • Build Friendships: Connect with peers across different year groups who share similar interests.

  • Enhance Well-being: Provide a positive outlet for energy, reduce stress, and promote a healthy lifestyle.

  • Boost Academic Performance: Activities can reinforce classroom learning or provide a fresh perspective.

  • Build Character: Develop resilience, discipline, responsibility, and a sense of achievement.

Our extensive programme includes, but is not limited to:

  • Academic Enrichment: Debating Society, Science Club, Maths Challenges, Book Club, Creative Writing.

  • Arts & Performance: Drama Club, School Choir, Orchestra, Dance Crew, Photography.

  • Sports: Football, Netball, Rugby, Basketball, Athletics, Badminton, Table Tennis, Cricket.

  • STEM: STEM Club, Chess Club, Eco Club.

  • Hobbies & Interests: Games Club, Darts Club.

Many of our activities are led by passionate teachers and support staff, and some involve external coaches or experts, offering high-quality experiences for all participants. We regularly review and expand our offerings to ensure we are meeting the diverse interests of our students.

We strongly encourage all students to get involved and make the most of the incredible opportunities available. Details of current club offerings, schedules, and sign-up procedures are regularly updated on school notice boards, in student bulletins, and on the school calendar. Your child can also speak to their Form Tutor or any member of staff for more information.

Come and join the fun, learn something new, and be part of something special at King Edward VI High School!
