We are delighted that you are considering King Edward VI High School for your child's secondary education. We understand that the admissions process can seem complex, but we're here to guide you to the correct resources.

Please note that all admissions to King Edward VI High School, including applications for Year 7 entry and in-year transfers, are handled directly by Staffordshire County Council. This ensures a fair and transparent process for all families.

Applying for a Year 7 Place (Transition from Primary School)

If your child is currently in Year 6 at primary school and is due to start secondary school (Year 7) in the next academic year, you must apply through Staffordshire County Council's online admissions portal.

  • Key Dates: Applications for Year 7 typically open in September of your child's Year 6 and close on 31st October (the national closing date). Offers are usually sent out on 1st March (National Offer Day). It is crucial to meet these deadlines to maximise your child's chances of securing a place at one of your preferred schools.

  • How to Apply: You will need to complete the online application form on the Staffordshire County Council website. You can list King Edward VI High School as your preferred Number 1 choice.

Late and In-Year Applications (Changing Schools During the Academic Year)

If you are applying after the main Year 7 application deadline, or if your child already attends a secondary school and you wish for them to transfer to King Edward VI High School during the academic year (e.g., due to a house move or other circumstances), these applications are also managed by Staffordshire County Council.

Process
  1. You will need to complete the relevant late or in-year application form via the Staffordshire County Council admissions service.

  2. They will then liaise with King Edward VI High School regarding available places in the relevant year group.
