You'll master essential trades like working with wood, brick, plaster, decorating, and tiling. But it's not just practical skills you'll gain – you'll also become a whiz at budgeting and project planning, and develop key employability skills like problem-solving and organisation that employers love.

You can achieve a Level 1 or Level 2 Pass, Merit, Distinction, or even a Distinction*, setting you up for success. Assessments include an on-screen exam on safety in construction (40%) and then you choose: either dive into designing the built environment or hone your skills across three construction trades (both 60%).

What to Expect & Where You Could Go

You won't be building things every single lesson, as there's also theory and written work to master. But you'll definitely be getting your hands dirty, creating exciting projects with various materials! Don't worry about safety gear; we'll provide hard hats and ear defenders, but you'll need your own steel-capped boots. Just a heads-up, this course is packed with practical work, so it's not recommended if you're also taking another Design and Technology subject.
