ICT & Computer Science
At King Edward VI High School, our ICT and Computing curriculum is designed to equip students with the digital literacy and computational thinking skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly technological world. We believe that a strong understanding of computing is vital for both future careers and for navigating the digital landscape safely and effectively. Our curriculum is progressive, challenging, and focuses on both the theoretical and practical application of technology.
Key Stage 3
During Key Stage 3, students build on their prior knowledge to develop a wide range of digital skills. The curriculum covers foundational topics such as computer systems, algorithms, programming, data representation, and digital citizenship. We aim to foster a problem-solving mindset and encourage students to become confident and creative users of technology.​

GCSE
At GCSE level, students have the opportunity to specialise in either Computer Science or a more vocational ICT course. These courses deepen their understanding of:

Computer Science: This pathway focuses on the theoretical and practical aspects of computing, including programming, data structures, and how computers work at a fundamental level. It is ideal for students considering further study in STEM fields.

ICT/Creative iMedia: This course is more project-based, focusing on practical skills such as digital media production, website development, and effective use of software applications. It is well-suited for students with an interest in the creative and business applications of technology.

Enrichment
We provide opportunities for students to extend their learning beyond the classroom, including coding clubs and participation in national computing competitions. Our goal is to make ICT and Computing an engaging and rewarding subject for all students, preparing them to "Be the best YOU can be" in a digital age.
