Life Matters (PSHEE)
At King Edward VI High School, our "Life Matters" curriculum is our commitment to providing students with the knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to lead healthy, safe, and fulfilling lives. This comprehensive program, which covers Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) education, is designed to prepare our students for the challenges and opportunities of modern Britain.

Health & Wellbeing
This theme covers a range of topics essential for physical and mental health. From understanding puberty and the importance of a healthy lifestyle in Year 7, to discussing mental health awareness, First Aid, and substance abuse in older years.

Relationships & Sex Education (RSE)
As students mature, our curriculum provides age-appropriate education on relationships, consent, and sex education. This includes exploring topics such as peer pressure, healthy friendships, domestic abuse, and understanding LGBTQ+ issues, with the goal of fostering respectful and safe relationships.

Living in the Wider World
This theme prepares students for their future in the wider community. It covers topics such as financial literacy, including managing debt and understanding the risks of gambling, as well as broader issues like human rights, democracy, and navigating the digital world safely.

The Life Matters curriculum is a key part of our pastoral care, and we believe it is vital in helping every student to "Be the best YOU can be."

The Life Matters department is led by Subject Leaders Miss D L Tickell and Miss M Mee. If you have any questions about the curriculum, please feel free to contact the school.
